Millwright Hydraulic Pumps and Actuators 3rd Year Practice Test

Hydraulic fluid plays a crucial role in the performance of hydraulic systems by helping to transmit power throughout the system. It functions as a medium that transfers energy from one component to another, enabling the movement and actuation of various hydraulic devices. This transmission of power is essential for the operation of actuators, pumps, and other components within the system, making hydraulic fluid a vital element of hydraulic system functionality.

In addition to power transmission, hydraulic fluid is also responsible for maintaining system integrity. It provides lubrication to moving parts, reducing wear and tear, and assisting in the prevention of overheating by dissipating heat. This dual role helps maintain the reliability and efficiency of the hydraulic system over time. Therefore, the correct response highlights both the power transmission and the integrity maintenance aspects that hydraulic fluid provides, which are key to a hydraulic system's effective performance.
